HumminGuru S-DUO Pro

I bought one of these because I bought a couple of second hand cartridges that didn't sound as good as I'd hoped. I figured if it worked I'd saved a few hundred quid on getting a 1980s Dynavector Karat Ruby retipped, and if it didn't work I'd send it back. After a few hours on charge, I opened a fresh bottle of distilled water (no chemicals needed) and set about figuring out which rubber donut to use, ultimately opting for the smallest. This is the only bit where the manual could be clearer; there's no guidance on which insert to use when. Dropping a few droplets into the bath, and gently lowering the stylus into it's bath (being careful to rest the body on the rubber ring), I then poked the water button a couple of times until I heard a feint squealing noise. Unlike cheaper cleaners, there's no bristles - so nothing but water touches the stylus and cantilever. After cleaning and drying (nice little drying pads, these - they work!) I put on a disc and expected to be underwhelmed. The improvement to sound quality was obvious and immediate. More bass, more composure, less background noise, more ambience, and tighter timing - better everywhere. If it weren't for the price, I'd recommend it to anyone with a turntable. As it is, I'll have to qualify the recommendation to say that if you've got a decent cartridge, you should get one of these. The scales are good too. Consistent and quick - seem accurate too.

It is the better and charmer! Works fine. Pressure gauge calibration is great. 110Khz ultrasonic cleaning is the best. separation of body and battery part is nice. Recommend strongly!

The S-DUO is a great tool for getting your turntable dialed in. I recently installed a new needle and had gone through the adjustment sequence in the user manual and the system sounds decent. When I received the S-DUO and set it up, I discovered that the adjustment on the turntable was way off. It was off by 0.8g. I look forward to seeing the difference the ultrasonic cleaner makes for the needle after the needle has been used for a while.

Very happy with purchase. Highly recommended. It literally removes the black vinyl coating from the stylus.After 4 tries at 20sec. For the first time. After just once. Would be happy to buy another and highly recommend to other Audiophiles.
